The Hudson River. Native Americans called it, "Muhheakunnuk" or "The River that flows both ways." I have actually SEEN this river's tides changing at the same time. It's a fascinating thing to see!
These signs are on either end of the walkway.

The old Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge. This was a fundraiser walk back in 1994. It is now 2009 and they have rebuilt the bridge in celebration of the River's 400th anniversary. It is now a walkway, open to the public, with the official opening October 3, 2009 week end.
Fifteen years later...... we walked the total of 2.5 miles across and back on November 8, 2009. It was cold and windy but just a delight to see it being used by so many people!
