I've often said that if I believed in past lives, mine would have HAD to have SOMETHING to do with this place. For me, there is nowhere else in the world where I feel as comfortable and happy as I do here. The smell of this place can only be at Mohonk. We've known some WONDERFUL times here and hope for many more in the years ahead.
2008-2009

Seeing this sign as we drive up to the main entrance, just warms my soul.
The colors in each garden are perfectly blended.
Smiley Tower
This is a part of the house that we discovered. Very few people use this area so we always come here.
The little library they have......a quiet reading area.
Looking west.
One of many little "hide aways" you can find scattered throughout the house.
It's the little details that make this place sooooo beautiful!
This is just a fun shot!

A Christmas Ball that hung in the middle of the staircase. Gorgeous!!!

On the way up to Smiley Tower. 2008
The drive up to the house was beautiful. 2009
A family ritual.......to take our picture with Mr. Smiley. We find him, no matter where he has been placed by the staff.
When discussing photography with Jennifer, she said: " I've always just wanted to capture a moment, so when I look at the picture later, I can be reminded of how I felt or how pure the emotion was." Couldn't have said it any better myself!
The gardens are spectacular.
The porch on the east.
Flowers of every possible variety, everywhere you look!
Just as we arrived, the snow started to fly.
Of course, the gift shop.
The gorgeous pool in the spa area.
These were hanging right outside our room over the balcony.
The main dining room.
The main staircase.
On my 50th birthday, I did two things to mark the occasion. I went ice skating in their outdoor pavillion and walked up to Smiley Tower. Mark was very kind to me as I struggled with both things, but I conqured! We then proceeded to get snowed in! What a place to be stranded in! They eventually cleared the mountain road and we were able to leave. I'll never forget sitting by a window, with the fireplace burning, watching the snow blow around outside....and there we sat, so nice and cozy. It gives me peace like nowhere else in the world!

This special tree welcomes us every time we go there.
